FAQ’s

What applications are good for Entropy bio-epoxy systems?
Our epoxies are liquid thermoset resins systems that require mixing an epoxy part with a hardener part that chemically react to harden into a plastic. Our systems are specifically designed for use in fiber reinforced composite applications but work well for applications ranging from coatings to adhesives.

Which system should I use?
This obviously depends upon your application, but in general our systems fall into two categories…

Room Temp Cure Systems – Super Sap 100 Epoxy with Super Sap 1000 Hardener, Surf Sap 101 with Surf Sap 1200 Hardener

Heat Cure Systems – Super Sap 100 with Super Sap 1100 Hardener, Super Sap 100 with Super Sap 1300 Hardener

So start off by looking at a system that best matches your cure temperature.

What is the major difference between the room temp cure systems?
All our room temp cure systems work well for fiber laminations and coatings. They cure fast at room temp, leave a blush free surface, and are easy to sand. The biggest difference is color, with Super Sap having a slight green color as compared to Surf Sap, which is water clear. Both are transparent with the slight green color of Super Sap only showing over totally white substrates such as surfboard foam. However Super Sap does have a significantly higher bio-content than Surf Sap.

How about the heat cure systems?
Super Sap 100/1100 is our generic formulation for heat-accelerated cure applications such as compression molding. Super Sap 100/1300 also works well for these types of applications but with a higher overall viscosity so it can be more difficult to apply than the 100/1100 system. However as with the room temp cure systems, 100/1300 has a significantly higher bio-content so if you are looking to maximize your bio-content that would be the system of choice.

From an environmental perspective, what makes Entropy bio-epoxy better than other epoxy systems?
At the end of the day this comes down to carbon footprint. By replacing petrochemicals with bio-mass we reduce the amount of carbon that is reintroduced into our environment from petrochemical processing. The processes used to refine and manufacture our bio-derived materials require less energy, water, and output less greenhouse gases than conventional petrochemical processing. Furthermore by sourcing our bio-mass from the waste stream or as a co-product from other industrial processes, we are able to further reduce the carbon footprint impact due to processing.

What about from a performance perspective?
We also realize that if it doesn’t work, who cares what it is made from. From the beginning we set out to create systems that were both functional and environmentally sustainable.
